What Is Urdu?
In international languages Urdu stands in the third position. We can say that Urdu is the third biggest language of the world. As a language and literature it studies in Pakistan as a compulsory subject. Urdu is Pakistan’s national language, which has a particular grammatical and historical literary background. Ghalib, Iqbal and Faiz has been translated in different languages.
Urdu at JUW
Jinnah University has faculty of Arts in which urdu department exsist. Urdu has been studing here as a compulsory, subsidory subject and as a major subject we teache urdu linguistics as well. A department magazine “DARICHA” is published by urdu department in which students of JUW participate. We include their essays and poetry to enhance their creative skilles. We organize “Mushaira” and “Mahfil-e-Milad” every year. Urdu department produced two PhDs. MS program is also running, three students are enroll in this program currently.
Careers
To produce students fluent in urdu language and in depth knowledge of urdu litrature and who could not only read, write and speak excellent urdu but have zeal to strive for its evolution in the world. The initial purpose is to introduce students with subjects that could develop in them to serve the nation through their national language as a teacher and jurnalist to built a good and responsible nation. To create in them the sence of a good citizen representing their true cultural values and civilization of this part of the world.
